SPRING IS FULL OF FUN

Posted by pamdent on March 10th, 2008

red-tulips.jpgIts less than two weeks to spring and the Charlottesville spring calendar is filling up with a large range of activities. Central Virginia is the perfect place to enjoy nature at its most beautiful and there is no time that the area is more beautiful than in the spring.

The spring festivities start out with the festival of the book March 26-30. This is the perfect time to take advantage of the many opportunites to meet your favorite author or get a new book signed. http://vabook.org

April abounds with activities for every taste. April 15-26 brings the dogwood festival with a variety of events including the dogwood parade. For the horse enthusiasists there is the Foxfield races. This is an opportunity to enjoy a day in the country watching thrilling steeplechase racing at its best. Also there is historic garden week, during which selected gardens in the area are open for public inspection .

May offers open houses and wine tastings at many area winerys. There is also the Crozet arts and Crafts festival offering an extensive selection of artisans. Not to be missed is the Keswick Horse Show May 14-18 offering the opportunity to watch some of the nation’s top show hunters and jumpers in action.

Spring is also the perfect time to visit Monticello and Ashlawn and view these historic homes when their gardens are at their most beautiful. Another must is a visit to the skyline drive for hiking and the views of the countryside.

Its the best time to “come home to Virginia”!
